LONDON: British politician Tulip Siddik, also granddaughter of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, expressed her interest in working to strengthen the relationship between Britain and Bangladesh.
Tulip, also the Labour Party candidate in next UK parliament elections, came up with the assertion while addressing a dinner party at Impression Events Venue in east London.
She said that the friendship between Britain and Bangladesh has been established in a historical ground. As a British politician, she wants to work to enhance the historical friendly relation between the two nations.
Addressing the audiences, she said there is no alternative of help of Bangladeshi community in UK to develop the tie of Britain-Bangladesh.
Sheikh Rahana, daughter of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, eminent Journalist Abdul Gaffar Chawdhury, and Britain’s Shadow Education Minister Rushnara Ali, others joined in the fund raising dinner.
Addressing Tulip as future British Member of Parliament, Shadow Education Minister Rushnara Ali said that British Labour Party considers Tulip’s intelligence, qualifications and skills as future assets of the party.
Among others, veteran organizers of Bangladesh liberation war Sultan Sharif, UK Awami League vice-president Jalal Uddin, Harmuz Ali, General Secretary Syed Faruk, assistant general secretary Anwaruzzaman Chaudhury were present in the fund raising party.
