DHAKA: Miscreants shot a businessman for extortion in Uttor Basabo area under Sabujbagh Thana of the capital on Sunday night.

The victim was identified as Mujibur Rahman, 50, a flex load trader.

Family sources said two youths came to Mujibur’s shop and demanded Tk 20,000 as extortion around 11:00pm.

At one stage of altercation, miscreants shot at his right leg and fled the scene snatching a mobile phone and cash.

Later, local people rushed the injured to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

In-Charge of DMCH Police Outpost Mozammel Haque confirmed the matter to banglanews.
