A total of 15 people, including Dhaka University's Fazlul Huq Muslim Hall provost Prof Muhammad Masum have been sued over lynching Tofazzal inside the campus hall suspecting him as thief.

The case has been filed Tofazzal's cousin Asma Akter at the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Aktaruzzaman on Wednesday (Sep 25).

As there is another case at Shahbagh Police Station, the investigation procedure of this case will be suspended for the time being.

On September 18, a man named Tofazzal died after being beat up mercilessly several times by some students at DU's Fazlul Huq Muslim Hall. Tofazzal was beaten suspected as thief.

Earlier, the DU authorities filed a murder case with Shahbagh Police Station in connection with the incident.
