At least five people were killed and 20 others injured after two buses collided head-on in Mollikpur area of Kanaipur Union under Faridpur Sadar Upazila on Dhaka-Khulna highway this morning.

The identities of the deceased have not yet been confirmed.

The two buses—Jhinaidah Paribahan, heading from Dhaka to Jhinaidah, and Green Express, traveling from Jhinaidah to Dhaka—collided head-on around 4 am leaving five dead and 20 others injured.

Besides, six of the injured are in critical condition. They are being treated at Faridpur Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College Hospital.

Faridpur Highway Police SP Maruf Hossain confirmed the matter.

He said the two buses involved in the accident have been recovered and taken to the Karimpur Highway Police Station.
