Mohammed Shahabuddin will remain as president or not will be determined after discussing with the political parties, said Rizwana Hasan, Forest, Environment and Climate Adviser.

She made the remark saying this issue was discussed at the advisory council meeting headed by Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus today (Oct 24).

The government will take a decision regarding resignation of the president based on discussions with the political parties, said Rizwana.

On Wednesday, three top BNP leaders met with the Chief Adviser on this matter and told the government of their choice. 

BNP leaders while talking to the chief adviser presented their choice and said, the party does not want the resignation of the President at this time. BNP believes that a vacancy in the post of President will create a constitutional and political crisis.
