70 more Bangladeshis return from Lebanon

Seventy more Bangladeshis returned home safely from conflict-stricken Lebanon last night on an Emirates Airlines flight (EK-584).

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, the total number of Bangladeshis repatriated from Lebanon reached 338 by seven separate flights.

The repatriation efforts have been a collaborative initiative involving the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, the Bangladesh Embassy in Beirut, and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

Upon arrival, officials from the foreign and expatriates' welfare ministries, along with IOM representatives, greeted the returnees at the airport.

The IOM provided each returnee with BDT 5,000 in pocket money, basic food supplies, and medical support.

The government has committed to covering all repatriation costs for Bangladeshi nationals wishing to return from Lebanon amidst the ongoing crisis.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Embassy in Beirut continues to prioritize the safe return of those who wish to come back and is working diligently to support the safety of expatriates who choose to remain.

However, on Sunday, a Bangladeshi expatriate was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Lebanon while on the way to work.
