The newly-appointed Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin today (Nov 24) said the new Election Commission (EC) is committed to holding a free and fair election.
He was talking to reporters at the Supreme Court (SC) following the oath-taking ceremony.
"I want to maintain the dignity of my oath. I will uphold my oath. I see this as a big opportunity in my life, an opportunity to do something for the nation. People of the country are deprived of their voting rights,” said the CEC.
"I consider this role a significant opportunity in my life. The people of this country have long been denied their voting rights. They have fought, sacrificed, and shed blood to achieve free and fair elections. I am dedicated to ensuring such an election and will give all-out effort to make it happen," he added.
