Three compartments of a freight train derailed on Monday morning (November 25) in the Joynal Market area of Uttara, disrupting train services on one of the double tracks connecting Dhaka to Chittagong.
The derailment occurred as the train was traveling from Dhaka toward Chittagong, according to Kamalapur Station Master Md. Anwar Hossain.
While one track remains closed due to the incident, the Dhaka-bound line is operational, allowing limited train movement, he added.
"Our rescue train has been dispatched and is working to restore the affected track. We are optimistic that services will return to normal soon," said Hossain.
