The Election Commission (EC) has directed its officials to resolve all applications for corrections to the National Identity Card (NID) within 45 days in a bid to reduce public inconvenience.
EC Secretary Akhter Ahmed recently issued the order to all directors and regional election officers.
NID Director Md Saiful Islam said the directive requires that applications be processed within the stipulated timeframe, with information provided on the voter registration form to be considered the primary reference point during verification.
According to the EC, nearly 900,000 NID correction applications have already been settled this year under a special "crash programme." However, approximately 300,000 applications remain pending.
