TONGI, GAZIPUR: A private university student was chopped to death by muggers in Cherag Ali Ceramic Market area of Tongi in Gazipur on Friday morning.

The deceased was identified as Mahir Uddin Khokan, 24, son of Jahirul Islam.

Sources said that Khokan, along with his friend, was returning home on motorcycle after offering floral wreath at Shaheed Minar.

At around 5:00am, a micro-bus knocked his bike from behind and the muggers snatched his bike chopping brutally.

Later, Khokan was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctor declared him dead, sources added.
