Foreign Affairs Advisor Md. Touhid Hossain today (Dec 15) met with Timor-Leste José Ramos-Horta, who is visiting Dhaka.
The meeting was held at the capital's Hotel Sonargaon on Sunday, December 15.
Various bilateral issues were discussed during the meeting.
Earlier, José Ramos-Horta was accorded a red carpet welcome upon his arrival in Dhaka last night on a four-day official visit.
Chief Adviser Prof. Muhammad Yunus greeted Ramos-Horta with a gun salute and a guard of honour.
Accompanied by a 19-member delegation, including Timor-Leste’s Foreign Minister, the president is scheduled to participate in various high-level meetings and events to enhance bilateral relations.
Later, Ramos-Horta will also hold discussions with Chief Adviser Dr Yunus, which will be followed by a delegation-level meeting, according to the programme schedule of the foreign ministry.
Ramos-Horta will attend the 54th Victory Day celebrations, marking Bangladesh’s historic victory in 1971.
On December 17, the Timor-Leste President will deliver a lecture at the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) auditorium on “The Challenges of Peace in the Contemporary World.”
President Ramos-Horta will leave Dhaka on Tuesday afternoon concluding his visit.
