A report submitted by the Commission on Enforced Disappearances mentioned that most victims of enforced disappearances during the Awami League regime were allegedly killed, with bodies disposed of by submerging them in rivers, tied in cement bags.

The report, titled "Unfolding the Truth," was submitted on Saturday at 5 PM at the State Guest House Jamuna.

On Sunday (Dec 15), the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing released portions of the report, which revealed evidence of killings following enforced disappearances.

The commission stated it had verified methods used to kill victims, including shooting them in the head and then tying their bodies with cement bags before submerging them in rivers. It also highlighted cases of false legal charges filed against some victims.

The report alleges involvement of military officers in the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in describing this method as an "ideal" way to dispose of bodies. It further recommends abolishing RAB and initiating judicial proceedings for victims of enforced disappearances.

Military officers from RAB and DGFI as well as police personnel from the Detective Branch and CTTC were actively involved in the heinous acts committed in secret detention centres across the country, said this report.

Additionally, the report links former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to the directives behind the disappearances. The commission reported verifying 758 of 1,676 complaints received so far in its investigation.
