Dr. Asif Nazrul, Adviser on Expatriates’ Welfare and Foreign Employment, has said that remittance inflow has increased by 26% compared to the same period last year.
He said, "About 15 million people of Bangladesh are engaged in various professions in different countries. After our government took office, remittances have increased by 26 percent compared to this time last year."
He made the remark during a program held at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium on Wednesday (Dec 18) morning, marking International Migrants Day and National Expatriates’ Day 2024.
Dr. Nazrul said that approximately 15 million Bangladeshis are working abroad in various sectors.
He also assured that the ministry would provide full support to ensure voting rights for expatriates.
Secretary of the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, Ruhul Amin presided over the event.
Special guests included Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, Adviser on Youth and Sports and Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives.
