Bangladesh's Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain, will attend an emergency meeting in Bangkok today (Dec 19) with regional counterparts to discuss the ongoing situation in Myanmar.
The meeting, organized by Thailand, will include foreign ministers and senior officials from Bangladesh, Myanmar, India, China, Laos, and Cambodia. Key topics will include borders, crime, and the evolving situation in Myanmar.
Before leaving Dhaka, Touhid said that Bangladesh's primary concern is the safety and rights of the 1.3 million Rohingya refugees and their safe repatriation.
He called for a practical solution to the crisis, acknowledging that it cannot be solved overnight.
This meeting follows Thailand's proposal for informal talks involving Myanmar and neighboring countries.
