Voting ends, counting on in Pirganj

DHAKA: The voting in Pirganj upazila ended amid tight security and the counting of the votes started.    

The voting started from 8:00am and continued till 4:00pm on Monday without any break.

Three chairman-aspirants in the upazila are Awami League supported Shahadat Hossain Bakul, rebel candidate Meshkowara Habib and BNP-backed Noor Mohammad Mandal.

Besides, eight male candidates are vying for vice-chairman post and four female candidates for Vice-Chairman (women) post.

Centering the election eight platoons army personnel and three platoons Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) were deployed in the area to avoid any untoward situation.
