The Department of Environment (DoE) has urged city residents to wear face masks when outdoors due to the deteriorating air quality in Dhaka.
The city's Air Quality Index (AQI) reached a "very unhealthy" level, surpassing 250 at 10am today, prompting the warning.
In a press release, the DoE advised sensitive groups, including the elderly, children, and those with health issues, to avoid going outside unless necessary.
The department also noted that the AQI fluctuates throughout the day, often shifting from unhealthy to vulnerable levels, particularly during the dry season in the capital and its surrounding areas.
