The construction of the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport third terminal is 99% completed, and it is set to be operational by October or early November, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB).
Air Vice Marshal M. Mafidur Rahman, Chairman of CAAB, disclosed the matter during a press conference held at the CAAB office in Kurmitola on Thursday (January 16).
The event focused on the progress of CAAB's projects, including the third terminal.
"The construction of the third terminal is almost done, with only minor work left on the VIP and VVIP sections. We aim to inaugurate it within this year and make it operational by October or early November," Rahman said.
He highlighted the improvement in passenger services at the airport, which now meets global standards, crediting the efforts of all agencies involved.
Rahman also urged passengers and their companions to adhere to regulations to ensure smooth operations.
Discussing ongoing development work at other airports in the country, the CAAB Chairman said that most projects are advancing rapidly and are expected to be completed this year.
The construction of the third terminal began in December 2019, after receiving approval from the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on October 24, 2017.
