DHAKA: The hearing on appeal filed by Bongobir Kader Siddique to get back his nomination to vie for Tangail-8 constituency by-polls will be held on Sunday.

Returning officer cancelled the nomination paper of Krishak Sramik Janata League president Kader Siddique due to loan default on Wednesday.

On Thursday, Kader Siddique appealed to Election Commission (EC) to get back his nomination and the commission fixed Sunday for hearing of the appeal.

Beside, upazila returning officer also cancelled the nomination of Awami League rebel candidate Abu Syed Mia and he also appealed to EC to get back his nomination.

EC sources said that the appeal hearing will be held at the election commission secretariat around 10:00am with the presence of Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakib Ahmed and petitioner Kader Siddique.

Election Commission Deputy Secretary (Law) Basu Deb Roy confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Earlier on January 20, Member of Parliament of Tangail-8 constituency Agriculturist Professor Shawkat Momen Shahjahan died and the constituency fell vacant.
