Nat’l medical interns go on indefinite strike

DHAKA: The intern doctors of National Medical Institute and Hospital on Saturday called strike for indefinite period demanding punishment of accused word boy.

Sources said that following an incident vandalism and clash took place in the hospital and protesting the incident intern doctors went on strike.

Earlier in the morning, a fourth class staff locked into altercation with an on-duty intern doctor over a trifling matter. At one stage, intern doctors and fourth class employees locked into clash at the institute and vandalized valuables.

Sutrapur Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Khalilur Rahman Patwari said on information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

Following the matter, the hospital administration and doctors sat on a meeting and emerging from the meeting, the internee doctors came up with the declaration of strike.
