NARAYANGANJ: A 12-year old schoolgirl was killed and another one injured in a road accident in Araihazar upazila of the district on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Smriti Rani, 12, daughter of one Dilip Das, hailed from Jhaupara area of the upazila.

The injured--Ratna Rani--was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Ratna’s husband Gautam told banglanews that, on their way to home by a rickshaw, a pickup van knocked them from behind at the Jhaupara area, leaving them injured critically.

Local people rushed them to Upazila Health Complex where the on duty doctor declared Smriti dead, he added.

Officer-in-Charge of Araihazar Thana Alamgir Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.
