Information and Broadcasting Adviser Nahid Islam has said that no decision has been made regarding his resignation or the formation of a new political party.
He made the remark on Thursday (January 30) while speaking to journalists at the ministry in the capital.
Referring to a report published in a national daily claiming that he and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud are set to resign to join a political party, Nahid Islam clarified that no such decision has been taken yet.
"If any such decision is made, it will be officially announced," she said.
Nahid Islam further emphasized that he will not form or join any political party while holding a government position.
Regarding the report, he said, "The newspaper did not specify the source of this information. If such a decision is made, we will inform everyone ourselves."
He also said that if a situation arises where joining a political party or leaving the government becomes necessary, an official announcement will be made.
Earlier, a report claimed that students are set to form a new political party by February 15, with Nahid Islam, a coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, expected to become its member secretary. It was also alleged that both Nahid Islam and Asif Mahmud would resign from their advisory positions to join the party.
