DHAKA: The High Court issued a contempt of court rule against Bangla daily ‘Prothom Alo’ Editor Motiur Rahman and joint editor Mizanur Rahman Khan for publishing columns in the daily.

In the suo moto rule, the court also asked Mizanur Rahman to appear before it in person on March 6 and explain why they should not be charged with contempt of court.

The HC bench of Justice Naima Haider and Justice Jafar Ahmed issued the rule on Sunday morning.

Earlier, on February 28, ‘Prothom Alo’ published ‘How an anticipatory bail in a minute?’ on its opinion page and on March 1, the daily published a column ‘Independence from six to eight weeks’ by the daily’s joint editor Mizanur Rahman Khan.
