BSEC receives six probe reports on market irregularities

The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has received six investigation reports from its Inquiry and Investigation Committee on past irregularities, manipulations, and corruption in the capital market. 

Necessary enforcement actions are ongoing based on these reports, according to a press release issued on Tuesday (February 11) by BSEC Executive Director and Spokesperson Mohammad Rezaul Karim.

The reports cover investigations into:

•    The issuance of Beximco Green Sukuk Al Istisna.
•    IFIC Granted Sripur Township Green Zero Coupon Bond issuance.
•    IPO approval and issuance of Best Holdings Limited.
•    Market irregularities, share acquisition manipulations in the block market, and compliance issues related to Al Amin Chemical Industries.
•    Irregularities in Fortune Shoes Limited, including dividend distribution and stock price manipulation.
•    Market manipulations involving Quest BDC Limited (formerly Padma Printers & Colors Limited).

The committee was formed following the 118th emergency meeting of the commission on September 27 last year under the Securities and Exchange Ordinance, 1969 (Section 21) and the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission Act, 1993 (Section 17K). 

It is investigating a total of 12 cases to ensure market stability, protect investors, and restore confidence.
