Twenty-two rubber workers have been abducted by an alleged armed ethnic group in the Lama Upazila of Chattogram District.
The incident occurred on Saturday (February 15) night in the Murung Jhiripara area of Fasiakhali Union.
According to local police and residents, the workers were abducted from Murung Jhiripara, and it is suspected that an armed ethnic group is behind the kidnapping. No information has yet been received regarding any ransom demand for their release.
Lama Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Shahadat Hossain confirmed the matter.
He said that no written complaint was filed.
Following the incident, police, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), and army personnel have launched a search operation to rescue the victims, he said.
Earlier, on February 1, seven workers were kidnapped from the Lingpung area of Sarai Union. They were later freed after a joint forces operation.
