The Director General (DG) of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Additional IGP AKM Shahidur Rahman, announced strengthened security measures to prevent theft, robbery, murder, and kidnapping across Bangladesh.
He said that RAB, in coordination with other law enforcement agencies, is conducting operations throughout the country to curb rising crime and maintain law and order.
The RAB DG made the announcement while speaking to the reporters after an inspection of RAB patrols and checkpoints in Matuail, Jatrabari, on Saturday (February 22).
Rahman said that certain groups, driven by self-interest, have been attempting to destabilize public confidence by orchestrating violent attacks, including thefts, robberies, extortion, and other forms of violence. These incidents have created a sense of insecurity in various parts of the country, he added.
To address these concerns, RAB forces are intensifying operations, with all battalions conducting comprehensive patrols in their respective jurisdictions. Additional patrols have been deployed in high-risk and strategic areas to further ensure safety.
The DG also said that RAB battalions are monitoring security nationwide, including in Dhaka, 24/7, through a coordinated effort with other law enforcement bodies and control rooms.
Security has been bolstered with the establishment of checkpoints and routine searches, in collaboration with other agencies. Furthermore, RAB’s Bomb Disposal Unit and Dog Squad remain on standby for any emergencies.
Shahidur Rahman also said that check-posts have been set up at critical locations in all metropolitan areas, district cities, and upazilas.
Additional patrols and undercover surveillance are being employed, while reserve forces are strategically stationed in key cities to respond swiftly to any situation.
