Brendan Lynch, Assistant US Trade Representative for South and Central Asia, is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on a three-day official visit starting September 14, according to diplomatic sources.
The visit aims to deepen bilateral trade relations between the United States and Bangladesh, with key discussions expected to focus on reducing tariff barriers, promoting digital trade, and improving the investment climate for American businesses operating in Bangladesh.
Lynch’s agenda will also likely include talks on sustainable industrial development, workers' rights and protections, and Bangladesh’s longstanding request for duty-free access to the US market for its exports.
During his stay in Dhaka, Lynch is expected to meet with senior officials of Bangladesh’s interim government, including Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus, Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain, Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin, and Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam.
