A group of students has given Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury 24 hours to apologize to the nation and resign for his alleged failure in duty.
If Home Adviser does not step down within the deadline, they plan to hold a torch procession on Tuesday from the Raju Memorial Sculpture at Dhaka University.
The ultimatum was announced on Monday (February 24) in front of the Education Building by Adrita Roy, a student of Jahangirnagar University, on behalf of the Bangladesh Platform against rape and oppression.
She said that those present were part of a mass uprising and accused the home affairs adviser of failing in his responsibilities.
Adrita further said that if the adviser does not resign within 24 hours, they will organize the torch procession with maximum participation and intensify their movement to implement their nine-point demands.
She also called upon people from all walks of life across the country to build a mass resistance movement.
