Justice Khizir Hayat of the High Court Division was removed from his post on March 18, according to the Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Ministry sources.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin removed Justice Khizir Hayat from his post as per section (6) of Article 96 of the constitution.
The Law and Justice Division issued a gazette notification, signed by Law and Justice Division Secretary Sheikh Abu Taher, on March 19 in this regard.
His removal comes in the wake of widespread student protests demanding the resignation of judges accused of being "partisan, corrupt, and allied with fascist forces."
In response to the protests, 12 judges from the High Court Division, including Justice Hayat, were suspended from judicial duties on October 20.
