Two killed in clash over dominance in Narsingdi

Two people were killed in a clash over territorial dominance in the char area of Raipura upazila in Narsingdi early Friday (March 21).

The incident occurred in Mohinipur village of Chanpur union.

In the incident Amin Mia, 23, son of Khorshed Mia, and Bashar Mia, 35, son of Barek Hazi, were killed. 

According to locals, there was a long-standing conflict between the supporters of Union Parishad (UP) member Shamsu Mia and those of freedom fighter Abdus Salam. Salam’s followers had been staying away due to the tensions. As they attempted to return ahead of Eid, Shamsu's supporters resisted, leading to a violent clash with local weapons, including spears, machetes, and explosives. Both Amin and Bashar, who supported Salam, died on the spot after being stabbed and shot.

Raipura Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Prabir Kumar Ghosh confirmed the matter.

He said that law enforcers are working to control the situation.
