The government through an executive order has declared April 3 (Thursday), as a public holiday ahead of the weekend following Eid-ul-Fitr.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification on Sunday (March 23).
During the holiday, all government, semi-government, autonomous, semi-autonomous, and private offices will remain closed. However, essential services such as electricity, water, gas, and other energy supplies, fire services, port operations, cleaning services, telecommunications, internet, and postal services will remain operational.
Hospitals, emergency services, and related workers will also remain out of the holiday's purview. Doctors, healthcare staff, and transport carrying medicines and medical equipment will continue their operations. Offices involved in emergency tasks will also remain functional.
Bangladesh Bank will provide necessary instructions regarding banking activities, while the Supreme Court will decide on court operations during this period.
