Bangladeshi expats have sent $2.43 billion (Tk 29,982.23) in remittances in the last 22 days ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, according to Bangladesh Bank data released on Sunday (March 23).
This year, the remittances before Eid have been stronger than before.
According to central bank data, state-owned commercial banks received $527.39 million, while specialized agricultural banks received $199.28 million. Private commercial banks handled $1.70 billion, and foreign banks processed $4.57 million.
In December last year, Bangladesh recorded its highest-ever monthly remittance inflow of $2.64 billion. Since August, remittances have consistently exceeded $2 billion each month.
