DHAKA: The government housing offices are likely to be set up in five more divisional cities for the sake of accommodation facility of the government employees.

The public employees of Dhaka and Chittagong cities are getting the facility under the management of government housing division which was established in 1972.

According to the housing division there are several categories of apartments such as A, B, C, D, E and F.

Moreover, there are a total of 14,000 apartments for the government employees.

The housing division is already monitoring the accommodation of the government staffs in Dhaka and Chittagong. On the other hand, deputy commissioners and public work department are responsible for others across the country.

Officials said that there is a lack of accommodation for the government employees in the country.

Sometimes, staffs get their flats years after their applications. The situation is more crucial in the divisional cities and rural areas.

Government Housing Department director Dr M Ashraful Islam said that as the government employees are facing many obstacles in accommodation so an initiative has taken to set up Housing Department in rest of the divisions.

The housing department for rest of the divisional cities will be implemented with the availability of funding, he added.

The shortage of accommodation of service holders will be fulfilled if the project comes to a practice shortly, he added.
