A 95-year-old woman, her daughter, and two granddaughters were killed after a passenger bus collided with their auto-rickshaw this morning (March 30).

The collision occurred around 7:30 am on the Mymensingh-Kishoreganj highway near the Chandrapara area of Gouripur Upazila.

The victims have been identified as Kulchuma Begum (95), wife of Obaidur Rahman, from Durbachar village in Bhangnamari union; her daughter Dilruba (40), wife of Manik Mia; and her granddaughters Riti (14) and Priti (7).

Md. Shafiq Uddin, in charge of the police outpost at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, confirmed the incident. 

According to him, a passenger bus hit the auto-rickshaw, severely injuring its occupants. The wounded were promptly rescued by bystanders and transported to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, where three victims were declared dead on arrival. 

One additional person passed away later in the ward, while the remaining two victims are being treated for serious injuries, he added.

Shafiqul Islam Khan, Officer-in-Charge of Mymensingh Kotwali Model Police Station, said the bodies were sent to the Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue, and legal proceedings are underway.
