Two killed in Ctg road accident

CHITTAGONG: A speeding truck crushed a rickshaw leaving two people dead in front of officer’s colony gate the port area Tuesday night.

The deceased were identified as Dr. Khadiza Begum (30), wife of Mejbah Uddin, assistant engineer of Chittagong port and an unidentified rickshaw puller (50).

Witness Farhad Uddin, secretary of Chittagong port, told banglanews24.com.bd that the truck hit the rickshaw in front of the officer’s colony near Zeti No 5 at around 10 at night. Both the passenger and the driver of the rickshaw were severely injured. Passenger Khadiza died on the spot.

Locals rushed the rickshaw puller to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where duty doctor declared him dead.

The truck driver fled the scene leaving the truck on the spot.
