Ferry movement on the important Paturia-Daulatdia waterway in Shibalaya upazila of Manikganj resumed after being suspended for nearly 45 minutes due to strong winds and high waves in the middle of the Padma River.

The service resumed around 5:15pm on Thursday (April 10).

Nasir Hossain, Deputy General Manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) confirmed the matter.

He told Banglanews that rough weather began around 4:00pm, forcing authorities to halt ferry operations at 4:30pm to avoid accidents. During the suspension, Ro-Ro ferry Golam Mawla was stuck in mid-river.

As the wind and waves calmed, the stranded ferry safely reached the ghat, and full operations resumed on the route.
