The government has declared a general holiday on Sunday (April 13) in the three hill districts—Rangamati, Khagrachhari, and Bandarban—on the occasion of the upcoming Chaitra Sankranti festival.
Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification in this regard on Thursday (March 27) through an executive order.
According to notice, all government, semi-government, autonomous, semi-autonomous, and private offices in these districts will remain closed on that day.
For other districts, the day will be observed as an optional holiday for communities celebrating Chaitra Sankranti.
Since Friday and Saturday are weekends and Monday (April 14) is a public holiday for Pahela Baishakh, residents of the three hill districts will enjoy a four-day holiday in a row.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Bank's Department of Off-site Supervision (DOS) has informed that all branches and sub-branches of scheduled banks in Rangamati, Khagrachhari, and Bandarban will also remain closed on April 13.
