DHAKA: The High Court on Wednesday exempted Dhaka Reporters Unity president and general secretary from contempt of court charges.

An HC bench comprising Justice Naima Haider and Justice Zafar Ahmed passed the order, in their presence, in the afternoon.

HC summoned journalist leaders for their statements over the comments of lawyers in a hearing against Prothom Alo over contempt of court charges.

The leaders appeared before the court on Wednesday.

Dr Shahdin Malik moved for the journalists in the court while Ahsanul Karim moved for the rule.
