CHITTAGONG: Metropolitan Police have received weapons and ammunitions provided by United States of America to perform duty in T-20 World Cup Cricket.
The weapons and ammunitions were reached at the Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) on Wednesday.
Supplied arms and ammunition are 8 M-4 Rifles, 8 Glock-17 Pistols and 4,000 rounds bullet.
Metropolitan Police Additional Deputy Commissioner (Detective) Babul Akter said, “We received the weapons and we will handover these to anti-terrorism unit SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) soon.”
Chittagong Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner Mahmuda Begum said some SWAT members had taken training from the United States.
After the training, US embassy has sent the arms and ammunitions, he added.
In 2013, some 23 police personnel took part at an anti-terrorism training course in Virginia of United States.
