COMILLA: Two journalists were assaulted by activists of local Chhatra League, student wing of ruling Awami League, two different incidents in Kashinagar and Chauddagram upazilas of the district on Saturday during the third phase of upazila election.

The victims are identified as Ashiqur Rahman Sohel, District Correspondent of Channel24 and reporter Niaz of the daily Manabzamin.

Sources said Ashiq was assaulted at Chauddagram Girls High School around 11:00am center while he was taking scene of casting fake vote. Chhatra League activists allegedly beat him and tried to snatch his camera.

Besides, reporter of the Daily Manabzamin Niaz was assaulted by Chhatra League activists at Ashwadiya Government Primary School in Kashinagar upazila.

Officer-in-Charge of Chauddagram Thana Uttam Kumar said action would be taken in this regard.
