Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized a large amount of smuggled Indian goods and several buffaloes from various border points in Sylhet and Sunamganj.

The BGB 48 Battalion confirmed the information in a press release issued on Friday afternoon.

According to the release, the seizures were made during operations in Sylhet’s Sangram, Protappur, Tamabil, Kalasadek, Sonarhat, Lobiya, and Sripur areas, and in Sunamganj’s Banglabazar, Sonalichhara, and nearby border outposts (BOPs).

During the raids, the BGB recovered Indian sarees, blankets, KitKat chocolates, fuchka, liquor, buffaloes, and shing fish that were being smuggled out of Bangladesh.

The total market value of the seized goods is estimated at Tk 53,67,100.

Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Nazmul Haque, commander of BGB Sylhet 48 Battalion, said that the raids were part of regular operations in border areas. “Necessary legal action has been taken regarding the seized items,” he added.
