A Dhaka court today issued an arrest warrant against filmmaker Chayanika Chowdhury in connection with a cheque dishonor case filed in 2013.

Dhaka’s 7th Joint Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md. Bulbul Islam passed the order after Chayanika failed to appear in court for the scheduled cross-examination of plaintiff and producer Rashedul Islam Riaz. 

Her plea for more time was rejected, and her bail was canceled.

The court also set June 26 for presenting arguments in the case.

The case, filed in May 2013, stems from an agreement between Chayanika and Riaz to produce a TV drama titled Jibon Shundor Hok. After receiving Tk 2.3 lakh from Riaz, Chayanika failed to proceed with the project and later issued a cheque that was repeatedly dishonored, prompting legal action.
