The Bengali edition of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China (Volume One) was launched at the China-Bangladesh Readers Forum held at Pan Pacific Sonargaon in the capital on Saturday.

Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen delivered the keynote speech, calling the book a valuable reference for understanding China’s development and governance model.

He said the book reflects President Xi Jinping’s vision and strategies from 2012 to 2022 and has been translated into 42 languages and distributed in over 180 countries.

Ambassador Yao said the book would help Bangladeshi readers learn how China achieved poverty reduction and modernization without following the Western model. 

He said, “China’s success proves modernization doesn’t always mean Westernization. It can offer useful insights for Bangladesh and the Global South.”

The forum was attended by Adviser to the Chief Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, CICG President Du Zhanyuan, Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam, BNP Standing Committee Member Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, and Jamaat-e-Islami Deputy Amir Dr Syed Abdullah Mohammed Taher.

The envoy added that the publication opens a new chapter in experience sharing and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
