New York: US ambassador to Bangladesh Dan W Mozena, who is now on a visit to USA, categorically said he would take the relations of USA with Bangladesh to the maximum height.

He came up with the assertion in a view exchange meeting in New York on Monday.

Even on Sunday he traveled among the Bangladeshi expatriates living in Jackson Heights known as ‘Mini Bangladesh’ on foot and exchanged views with them.

As he uttered the more close relations between the two countries he also told about the enormous possibilities of Bangladesh. His country will remain beside the country as well as will extend cooperation in its progress.
 
US will help Bangladesh to protect its maritime boundary so that it can make best use of its natural resources. US will also help in the expansion of trade across whole of Asia and will extend all out help to boost up investment in the country.

Dan Mozena claimed himself as the ‘bridge builder’ between two countries and said that his object is to take this bond to the maximum height.

He has come to Bangladesh as the US ambassador in 2009 with this object of bridge making mandate. He claimed that at the moment relations between Bangladesh and US is deeper and it is founded on more solid ground than before.

He held marathon meetings in New York for two days. This program of Mozena is under a government program under the preview of embassy’s ‘public diplomacy’. But this program has created a lot of curiosity among the Bangladeshis of abroad and also of this country.

The Outreach coordinator of Asia region desk of USA’s foreign Ministry Mr. Eric Aida told Banglanews, Dan Mozena will also go to Texas and California for during the ten day program after New York.

After sleeping few hours of twenty four hours of a day Mozena has been holding tireless meetings with the Bangladeshis. He said that ‘Mozena really loves Bangladesh very much.’

Mozena held break fast meetings with Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Oikya parishad on Sunday morning at Gulshan terrace of Woodside, with America-Bangladesh public affairs committee in the noon and International association for justice arranged luncheon meeting at the same venue, next visiting Bangladeshi inhabited Jackson Heights on foot, next in the afternoon special view exchange meeting at Time Television to be telecast later on and in the evening attending dinner with Democratic Alliance.

The ambassador exchanged pleasantries at Mannan Grocery, Khamar bari Khabar bari, Abokash Food court and Anandabazar business corners at Jackson Heights.

During the time he wanted to know about Bangladeshi vegetables, agricultural production and supply position. He also talked to the customers at the restaurants. He also talked about his interesting experiences about favorites in Barisal, Kuakata, Lichis of Dinajpur, Chinigura rice of Pabna and also of Hilsha fish.

Talking to Banglanews for a short while, he expressed his desire to tour Bangladesh after his retirement. He will go to Barisal. Mentioning Bangladesh as a very beautiful country Mozena said that his feelings ‘Mini Bangladesh’ the Jackson Heights as if he has come to his own people.   

It is to be mentioned here that the expatriates of Jackson Heights have presented many gifts to Mozena.

In his all meetings on Sunday Mozena said that to take the relations of two countries to a new height is his mission this time.

At time Television studio he said to the young generation of the expatriate Bangladeshis that they must not forget their own language and culture.

In the Democracy Alliance view exchange meeting Mozena disclosed that ‘Bangladesh is very important for USA. Bangladesh is the moderate, tolerant secular alternative of violent extremism’.

He said that Bangladesh will be top garments exporter. Bangladeshi goods will be ‘Global Brand’.

Mozena further told that Bangladesh itself will flourish and he is also confident that Bangladesh garment Industry will be ‘top most brand’ in world market.

Mozena told that Bangladesh will be Asian Tiger, Royal Bengal Tiger one day in world economy.

He also made comments that there is no more problem at Chittagong port.

He told US-Bangladesh relation is more close and stronger than any time before.

His meetings with the expatriates created much curiosity particularly among the supporters of the two rival political parties in Bangladesh. However, it is learnt that the talks he made in several meetings have frustrated the people opposing the present government in Bangladesh.
