A member of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), died in a road accident on the slope of the Khilgaon flyover in the capital on Monday night.

The deceased was identified as Sub-Inspector Kamrul Islam.

The incident occurred around 9:30pm in front of Khalil’s meat shop when a bus of Balaka Paribahan hit him. Kamrul was on his way to his workplace at the time. 

Later, Kamrul was rushed to Islami Bank Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Shahjahanpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jahangir Hossain confirmed the matter. 

He said Kamrul, who was posted at Motijheel Police Station, was riding a motorcycle when the bus hit him on the opposite side of the road near the meat shop.

Police detained the bus and its driver following the incident, he added.
