2 AL men among 4 killed

DHAKA: Four people, including two Awami League men, were killed and scores injured in violence in Munshiganj, Jhalokati, Brahmanbaria and Comilla districts during fourth phase of upazila election Sunday.

Banglanews Comilla Correspondent reports: A Jubo Dal activist was killed in Barura upazila of the district.

The deceased was identified as M Monir Hossian, 25, son of Ramij Uddin, hailed from Hossainpur village of Barura upazila.

Officer-in-Charge of Barura Thana AKM Kawsar informed banglanews that Monir sustained bullet injury when police opened fire as BNP activists tried to take-over poll center in the afternoon.

Later, he died at Comilla Medical College Hospital, OC added.

Munshiganj Correspondent reports: Baluakandi Union Parishad Chairman was shot dead in a clash with two groups in Gazaria area of Munshiganj.

The deceased was identified as Samsuddin Prodhan, 40, Chairman of Baluakandi union Parishad, also president of Union Awami League.

In another incident, a Juba League activist was killed in polls violence between ruling Awami League and BNP in Rajapur upazila of Jhalokathi.

The deceased was identified as Ripon Hossain, 28, activist of local Juba League activist.

In the afternoon, an Awami supporter was killed in Akhaura upazila under of Brahmanbaria district during BGB-Awami League clash centering ballot box snatching on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Hadis Miah, 30, son of Aftab Miah, hailed from Taraganj of the upazila.
