Extrajudicial killings investigation initiated

DHAKA: Law Minister Advocate Anisul Haque on Sunday said the government has already initiated the investigation of extrajudicial killings.

The law minister came up with the disclosure while addressing “Meet the Press” at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity, organized by Law Reporters’ Forum.

The lawmaker mentioned a report of a daily newspaper of the country where it mentioned that 261 people were killed extrajudicially.

Minister assured that the investigation of two killings started and, if anyone found guilty, would be punished.

He also criticized that the recent behavior of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s lawyers to the justice.

No civilized country people can act in that way, he added.

Anisul Haque further assured to form a new ministry for judicial department within the tenure of incumbent government.

President of the organization Salehuddin, General Secretary Wakil Ahmed Hiron, former President Swapan Das Gupta and other senior journalists, among others, were present in the press meet.
