COMILLA: A truck driver and helper were killed in a road accident on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Daudkandi upazila of the district early Monday.

The deceased were identified as driver Dulal Mia, 34, hailed from Bhola district and Manjur Alam, 25, hailed from Barisal district.

Sub-Inspector of Daudkandi Highway Thana M Rais Uddin told banglanews that a Dhaka-bound truck plunged into a roadside ditch as its driver lost control over the steering in Raipur area of the upazila, leaving the duo dead on the spot.

Police recovered the bodies and sent to Comilla Medical College Hospital for an autopsy, he added.
