CHAPAINAWBGANJ: The dawn-to-dusk hartal, called by BNP-led 19-party alliance, is underway in the district on Thursday.

The alliance is observing the shutdown protesting the killing of an activist of Chhatra Dal, the student wing of BNP.

No vehicles including heavy and light were seen in the roads of the district town.

Besides, most of the shops remained shut.

Additional law enforcers were deployed at the key points of the district.

Earlier on March 26, the Chhatra Dal activist Sujan, 18, was killed in a cocktail blast when he went to offer floral wreath at Shibganj Shaheed Minar.
