THAKURGAON: Two women drowned while they were washing cloths in a pond at Goagaon village under Pirganj upazila of the district on Saturday noon.

The deceased were identified as Moni 21, wife of Sawpon Mia and Shiuly, 30, wife of Hasibul Islam, hailed from the same village.

Locals said Moni and Sheuli went to the pond to wash cloths around 2:00pm and at one stage they drowned in the water of the pond.

Later, locals recovered them and rushed to Pirganj Upazila Health Complex where doctor declared them dead.

Officer-in-Charge of Pirganj Thana AKM Mehedi Hasan confirmed the matter to banglanews.
