DHAKA: Rumours that Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister GM Quader resigned were in the air all day long Friday, as there was no official confirmation.

His close acquaintances as well as responsible people in the Jatiya Party, a major component of the ruling Awami League-led grand alliance, dismissed it as a mere ‘rumour’.

When contacted, JP leader Kazi Firoz Rashid told banglanews24.com.bd, “It is completely a rumour as there is no reason for his resignation.”

The party presidium member added: "I was also looking for the fact after it had been published in the media. But I didn`t get any confirmation in this regard. GM Quader was present at Shahjalal International Airport to see off Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina."

Despite repeated attempts, GM Quader could not be reached as his cell phone was switched off.

Ministry sources said he stayed whole day in his office Thursday.
